The H.F. Schindler annual family reunion was held on the lawn of Mr. & Mrs. Elmer Schindler, August 8, 1940. After a basket dinner all assembled for a business meeting, which was called to order by the president, Mrs. C.A. Schneider. The group was led in prayer by Elmer Schindler, after which all united in and sang, "What a Friend we have in Jesus." A short address was given by Rev. Carol Gilbert.

The usual program was omitted and that time was given to visiting.

The minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved. The roll was called to which fifty-eight members responded and six visitors were present.

Mrs. Ermel Sander was heartily welcomed as a new member of the family.

The following officers were elected for the coming year:

A collection was taken to defray expenses for refreshments.

The H.F. Schindler family annual reunion was held at the home of Mr. & Mrs. Will Sander, August 17th. After a large basket dinner, the meeting was called to order by the president, Mrs. Will Sander.

Precious memories were related by several of the Schindler brothers and sisters in honor of their parents, the late Mr. & Mrs. H.F. Schindler.

Rev. Gilbert led the group in the opening song, which was "One More Year's Work for Jesus." The program which was held before the business meeting, consisted of a musical reading by Nelson Schneider, accompanied by L.T. Schneider, Jr.; musical numbers by Will Sander; addresses by Rev. Baumgartner and Rev. Theodore Schneider; chorus led by Rev. Gilbert; duet by Eula Mae and Clifton Schindler; and a solo by Janice Fankhauser.

The minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved. The roll was called to which fifty-three members responded, and twenty-two visitors were present.

New members that were heartily welcomed into the family were Gilbert Raymond Sander, Gary Gene Schneider, Glen Edwin Schindler, Mrs. Lester Sander, and Nelson Kapp.

The H.F. Schindler family annual reunion was held on the lawn of Mr. & Mrs. Elmer Schindler, August 2, 1942.

After a basket dinner all assembled for a program and business meeting which was called to order by the president, Mrs. L.T. Schneider who gave a short talk relating incidents of her home life and then remembered the boys in service after which, "Saved by Grace," was sang by Eula Mae and Clifton Schindler. L.T. Schneider, Jr. led the group in singing "God Save America" after which time was taken for silent prayer. The Junior sang "God Bless Our Boys at Camp," which was followed by a prayer by Rev. Baumgartner. Short talks were given by Rev. Gick, Rev. Baumgartner, Mrs. Baumgartner, and Rev. Schneulle, and the last number was a solo by Karen Schindler.

Minutes of previous meeting were read and approved. The roll was called to which fifty-four members responded and nineteen visitors were present.

Mrs. Willard Sander, Mrs. Kenneth Schindler, Mrs. Leroy Schindler, James Benjamin Cornelius and Mark Lester Sander were welcomed into the family circle.

To close the meeting all joined hands in singing "Blest be the Tie that Binds" in honor of Clifton Schindler who was to leave for the army August 6th.

The H.F. Schindler reunion was held August 1st on the lawn of Mr. & Mrs. Elmer Schindler. After a basket dinner, the group was called to order by the President, Alex Schindler, and all sang "Faith of Our Fathers" led by Eula Mae Schindler, after which Rev. W. Baumgartner led in prayer. The minutes of the previous meeting were then read and approved. The roll was called to which fifty-one members responded, and fourteen visitors were present. The following were elected as officers for the coming year:

A motion was made and passed that we buy a better book to keep our minutes in and also to keep a better record of each member of the H.F. Schindler family for future references.

New members welcomed were Meredith Kapp, Dwight Schindler, and Weldon Judah.

After the business meeting was completed, Mrs. Dorothy Fankhauser gave a reading, after which Eula Mae Schindler and L.T. Schneider, Jr. sang "Saved by Grace." Short talks were given by Rev. W. Baumgartner, Rev. G.A. Gick and Frank Schindler, in honor of the members of the family now serving their country. They are Nelson Kapp, Leroy Schindler, Clifton Schindler, Kenneth Schindler, and Forestine Schneider. After the talks all sang "America." To close the program all of the group joined hands and formed a circle to sing "Blest be the Tie that Binds," and were then led in a closing prayer by Elmer Schindler.

Afterwards the group visited and then returned to their homes.

The H.F. Schindler family annual reunion was held on the lawn of Mr. & Mrs. Elmer Schindler, August 6, 1944.

After a basket dinner the group was called to order by the president, Leslie Schneider. A short program preceded the business meeting. Rev. Baumgartner gave a short talk in honor of the members of the family now serving in the Armed Forces. They are Nelson Kapp, Leroy Schneider, Clifton Schindler, Kenneth Schindler, Forestine Schneider, and H.C. Schneider. Mrs. Dorothy Fankhauser and L.T. Schneider, Jr. then sang "Saved by Grace." The minutes of the last meeting were then read and roll called to which fifty-two responded and thirteen visitors were present. The following officers were elected:

Leonard Weinert and Mrs. Clifton Schindler were heartily welcomed as new members.

To close the meeting Rev. Baumgartner led the group in prayer in memory of Little Benny Cornelius who passed away during the past year and the group then sang, "Blest Be the Tie that Binds."

Later pictures were taken of the group to send to boys in service, and orders taken for copies of the Schindler Family Record that was completed in the past year. Ice cream and cake were served as the relatives visited.

The H.F. Schindler family annual reunion was held on the lawn of Mr. & Mrs. Elmer Schindler, August 5, 1945. Following a basket dinner, the group was called to order by the president, Mrs. John Schneider. An interesting talk was given by Rev. Baumgartner. Lee Schneider and Lois Schneider then sang "Saved by Grace."

The minutes of the last meeting were read and approved. Roll was called, to which 53 members responded, and 9 visitors were present. The president read a card, which was received from Mrs. Everett Schindler, who was at conference in Topeka. The following officers were elected for the coming year:

Those heartily welcomed as new members were Charles Henry Judah, Robert Allen Cornelius, Miriam Vera Sander, and Dale Ammon. A boquet of lovely gladiolas were given to Mr. & Mrs. Chris Schneider for being the oldest and longest married couple present.

A motion was made and carried to change the reunion to the last Sunday in July.

To close the program, Rev. Baumgartner led the group in prayer, and then all joined in singing "Blest Be the Tie that Binds." A collection was taken to defray expenses of refreshments, leaving $1.75 in the treasury.

Ice cream and cake were served, and the remainder of the afternoon was spent in visiting.

The eighteenth annual H.F Schindler family reunion was held on the lawn at the home of Mr. & Mrs. Elmer Schindler, July 28. Following the usual basket dinner, the group was called to order by the president, Elwin Schindler. To begin the program, the entire group sang "Saved by Grace". The minutes of the last meeting were read and approved. Sixty-two members responded to the roll call, and the following were welcomed as new members: Stephen Lynn Weinert, Kenneth Douglas Schindler, and Linda Kay Schindler. There were nine visitors present.

Mr. & Mrs. C.A. Schneider, who celebrated their golden wedding anniversary at their home, May 28, were again recognized and each was presented a lovely golden flower. The president made special mention of the five boys and one girl who served their country during the war and have safely returned. Nelson Schneider, who entered the service in February of this year, is now stationed in Hawaii.

Mr. & Mrs. William Sander presented a musical number. The three ministers present, Rev. Baumgartner, Rev. Miller, and Rev. Hartman gave short, impressive talks, and to close the program Rev. Hartman led the group in prayer, followed by all joining in singing "Blest be the Tie." A collection was taken to defray expense of refreshments, leaving 92 cents in the Treasury.

The H.F Schindler family reunion was held on the lawn at the home of Mr. & Mrs. Elmer Schindler, July 27, 1947. Following a basket dinner, the group was called to order by the vice-president, Kenneth Schindler. The program began by the group singing, "Saved by Grace".

The minutes of the last meeting were read and approved. The roll was called to which fifty-seven members responded and the following were welcomed as new members: Mrs. H.C. Schneider, Janet Schindler and Jean Schindler.

The vice-president made special mention of those who were still serving our country. Short talks were given by Rev. Miller, Rev. Deschner, and Rev. Hartman.

The H.F. Schindler family reunion was held on the lawn at the home of Mr. & Mrs. Kenneth Schindler, July 25, 1948. Following a basket dinner the group was called to order by the president, Kenneth Schindler. The program began by the group singing "Saved by Grace". The minutes of the last meeting were read and approved. Sixty-four members responded to roll call. Marva Lane Kapp, Beverly Alice Sander, Hilton Dale Sander, and Dennis Dale Ammon were welcomed as new members.

Special mention was made of the one member in the service of our country; also that 1948 marks the

100th anniversary of the settlement of the Schindler family in the locality, and Grandfather Schindler's birth. Rev. A.J. Miller gave a short talk. Rev. Warren Hartman and Rev. Baumgartner were also present during the afternoon.

Approval was made of the following officers, nominated by a special committee:

It was agreed that any suggestions for the location of next year's reunion be given to the new executive committee.

The entire group formed a "Friendship Circle" and sang "Blest be the Tie", after which closing prayer was given by Rev. Miller.

Each family was assessed $1.00, leaving a balance of $14.10 in the treasury. Ice cream and cake were served, after which the remainder of the afternoon was spent in visiting.

The H.F. Schindler family reunion was held Sunday, August 7, 1949, at the Clair Evangelical United Brethern Church. Following a basket dinner which was served in the basement of the church, the group was called to order by the Vice-President, Leroy Schindler. To begin the program Marilyn Schindler sang "Saved by Grace". The minutes of the last meeting were read and approved. Fifty-three members responded to roll call, and fifteen visitors were present. Five new members were welcomed into the group and added to the roll. They are Ronda Kay Schneider, Barbara Diane Schindler, Carolyn Zelline Weinert, Weldon Claire Judah, and Glenda Joy Schindler.

Short talks were given by the guest ministers, Rev. Tubach and Rev. Hartman. Special mention was made of the one member in the service of our country, and also that the group is again saddened by the loss of one of its members.

The following motion was present and passed. The date of the Schindler reunion shall be the fourth Sunday of July. The Executive Committee shall have the right to change the date. This motion was presented because of conflicts when the month of July has five Sundays.

The group sang "Blest Be the Tie" after which Rev. Hartman gave the closing prayer.

Ice cream and cake were served later in the afternoon. There is a balance of $18.75 in the treasury.
